Eliza SANDERS (nee ILES)
For over 5 years I have searched for the burial information for my g.g.grandmother.
Born at Brighton, Sussex, England on 13th November, 1832, she came to Melbourne with her parents and siblings in 1853.
Eliza married James SANDERS in 1854 and moved to Creswick. They had 11 children, the last born in Creswick in 1879 when Eliza was 47.
According to the death certificates of her father (1878) her mother (1888) and her eldest daughter Elizabeth (1896), Eliza was still living.
According to her youngest daughter’s marriage certificate (1913), Eliza was deceased.
Thus, she died between 1896 and 1913.
Eliza and James did not own any property.
James' obituary in 1919 refers to 'his dearly beloved wife, the late Eliza'. Nevertheless, I have checked divorce records. I have checked the death records in all States. None of her children married or died between 1896 and 1913. I have also searched electoral rolls and rates listings. If she died in an asylum, she still has to be buried somewhere.

DURHAM (Robert)
My family history research has led me to a Great x 3 aunt’s grave in the New Ballarat Cemetery – her name was Annie MEADOWS, buried 14/10/1918 aged 94 - spinster. Address at death: Howitt Street, Ballarat. In the same grave is Robert DURHAM, aged 60, buried 13/7/1921.
DURHAM is not a name that has previously emerged in my MEADOWS family history, and I am wondering why they’re buried together. If anyone has any knowledge / connection to Robert DURHAM, please email me.

Chaplain-Captain Frederick Percy WILLIAMS, M.C. (photo wanted!)
I'm researching all the soldiers that had connection to the Willaura district (WW1) for a book that is 90 % complete (in conjunction with the tiny Willaura Historical Society). One of the soldiers that I've tried to find on several occasions with little luck was Chaplain-Captain Frederick Percy WILLIAMS MC. I have written his profile from his NAA file and various newspaper snippets, but would love a photo of him to complete his profile. Any assistance would be great.

History of Waterloo and Chute near Beaufort, Victoria
We are holding an information gathering day on Sunday Oct 17th, 2010 starting around 1pm at the Beaufort Community Development Center next door to the Shire offices. If you could bring along your info already copied or on a disc that would be greatly appreciated. We have been able to contact in excess of 50 original families and still growing. Items of interest that have come forward are photos of some of the old pubs, the leather strap from the Chute school, a money box given out by the bank that was at Waterloo and hundreds of stories.

The communities of Waterloo and Chute, near Beaufort, Victoria are looking for any photos, memorabilia or stories on the history of the district to compile into a book. With a history dating back to the gold-rush where there were thousands of seekers who rushed to make their fortune and to the home of the inventor of vegemite, it will be a book full of surprises and interesting facts. Both communities once held their own post offices, schools, churches and pubs but all that remains today is a community fire station, the sports oval, cemetery and numerous mullock heaps that shows what once was. Over the next 2 to 3 years we will be researching the history and look forward to any assistance your organization or your readers can offer us. We are starting off with a public meeting on Sunday May 30th at 1pm to meet the author and plan the direction of the work required. This meeting will be held at the Waterloo Community Shed on the main Beaufort - Lexton Rd. For further information you can visit the website at Waterloo Book Portal or contact...

MORTON / McGREGOR
I am seeking information on the following families. Alexander McGREGOR came from Stornaway, Isle of Lewis Scotland in 1852 and was a gold miner at the time of the Eureka Stockade in 1854. He married Grace MORTON at Ballarat in 1856. Grace was the daughter of William MORTON and Mary (nee McTURK). They had two children Mary McTurk McGREGOR b. 1856 md. 1877 at Scarsdale to Francis BRINNAND. William McGREGOR b. 1858 at Magpie. 9 Days after William's birth Grace (his mother) died of puerperal fever following childbirth. Alexander appears to have left the children, as he was found in Hargraves NSW in 1872 and his daughter Mary md. at Scarsdale in 1877. Alexander remarried in 1873 to Margaret LONERGAN (my gt-grandmother) at Hargraves. It is thought that William and Mary were raised by the MORTON family. I am trying to find out what happened to William. I cannot find any death and therefore assume that he did not die at birth. Any help or contact with MORTON and/or William's descendants would be appreciated.
