EASTWOOD
Mr and Mrs EASTWOOD were the first teachers of the Digby Common School which opened in 1864. They were paid 1/- per pupil which opened with an enrolment of 46 pupils but this had risen to 59 by December of that year. This couple appear to be Charles & Anne EASTWOOD who arrived in Victoria in 1857 with a 10 year old son Charles. Both registered as Teachers in Victoria and Charles was appointed to Digby School and later to Bealiba on the Goldfields.
