Thomas MURPHY b. 1836, Tomacork, Co Wicklow, Ireland, son of Patrick MURPHY and Mary CARROLL was married in 1864 in Victoria to Mary Margaret GRIFFIN b. 1840 Co Clare, Ireland, daughter of Simon GRIFFIN and Mary LYONS / LYNES.

Thomas MURPHY arrived in Victoria about 1851 and was in Western Victoria for 68 years up to his death at his residence in Tyers-street, Portland where he died in 1919. Thomas & Mary Margaret lived at Tahara, Greenwald and finaly in Portland where Mary died in 1913. They are both buried in the South Portland cemetery.

Thomas MURPHY & Mary Margaret GRIFFIN had the following 8 children:

3. Ellen Mary MURPHY b.1870, Tahara, Vic., d. 1897, Hamilton, Vic.;

4. Margaret MURPHY b. 1871, Tahara, Vic., d. 1947, Portland, Vic.;

5. Patrick MURPHY b. 1873, Tahara., Vic, d. 1928, Digby, Vic., m. Jessie Louisa BURGESS 1877-1946. 9 children, lived at Digby.;

6. Thomas MURPHY b. ~1875, Tahara, Vic., d. 1956, Merino, Vic. m. Bridget WALSH 1875-1960, 2 children at Digby, Vic.;

7. Julia Mary MURPHY b. ~1877, Greenwald ?, Vic., d. 1961, Portland, Vic., m. John Joseph MALCOLM 1879-1953, 4 children at Glenthompson, Vic.;

8. Bridget Teresa MURPHY b. ~1881, Greenwald ?, Vic, d. 1963, Melbourne, Vic, m. James Patrick BUSHELL 1865-1944, children at Hamilton & Portland.
