Alexander McDONALD b. 1820 Ross Shire, Scotland, son of Donald McDONALD and Helen GRANT was married in 1849 to Ann MATHESON b. 1829 Ross Shire, Scotland, daughter of Kenneth MATHESON and Elizabeth McKENZIE. The family appears to have moved to Amphitheatre in the gold fields region of central Victoria from the Digby, Hotspur area after 1870.
