John JEFFREYS b. 1832 Somersetshire, England, son of Robert JEFFREYS and Elizabeth FERMUR was married in 1858 at Portland, Vic to Ellen SLATTERY b. 1836 Co Tipperary, Ireland, daughter of Robert SLATTERY and ______.

Ellen SLATTERY arrived at Portland in 1854 on the "Utopia" and was employed by John OTTEY, storekeeper at Emu Creek (Digby).

Robert & Ellen had the following children:
