Thomas BRINDLEY, b. 1799, Heanor, Derbyshire, Engalnd, son of William BRINDLEY and ann TRIMMER was a widower, aged 53, (1st wife Elizabeth WHITE d. 1846) sailed on the "Emma Eugenia" from Plymouth 23 Mar 1852, arrived in Portland, Victoria 8 July 1852. Also on board - Fanny Brindley, daughter, 25; William Brindley son, 22; Thomas Brindley, son 15; John Brindley, son 11. All from Derbyshire, C of E, all could read and write. All employed by Henry Munro at Crawford near Merino at 110 pounds per annum for 12 months with rations.

Old Thomas BRINDLEY (1799-1878), widower, along with his son John BRINDLEY 1839-1907 went to Queensland where he died in 1878.

Young Thomas BRINDLEY (1837-1893) and his sister Frances who married John SWIFT remained in the Hotspur area of south-west Victoria.
