Casterton Community Museum Opening Times:
  • Open by appointment only. Contact J Lier 0432774314 to make arrangements to visit museum.
  • Excludes Public Holiday Weekends, Christmas and Easter. Closed all of January reopens 2nd February.
  • The Casterton Community Museum has obtained Donor Gift Recipient endorsement by the Australian Taxation Office. If you would like to make a donation to the Museum, all donations over $2.00 are tax deductible. All donations go towards the conservation and preservation of the Museum Collection.

Casterton & District Historical Society Calendar of Events for 2009:

Meetings held 3rd Wednesday of the Month, 7pm, Visitor Information Centre, Casterton.
Outings theme - Aboriginal sites around the district.

  • May 20th - General Meeting at the Merino Hotel with dinner and a film at the renewed Merino Cinema.
  • No meetings June and July.

  • August 19th - Annual General Meeting.
  • September 16th - General Meeting.
  • September 27th (Sunday) - Merino/Digby - Lunch at the Merino Hotel.
  • October 21st - General Meeting.
  • November 6th (Friday) - Annual Dinner - Guest Speaker John and Hatice Basarin co-authors of the "Beneath the Dardenelles" - story of the HMAS AE2 told from both sides of the Gallipoli battle (see PDF file). John is also involved in the raising of the submarine as the Turkish representative in Australia. Cost is $25.00 per person - enquiries to Jan Lier Email
  • November 29th (Sunday) - Strathdownie - Lunch to be advised.
