GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
Easter, 2005 (26th & 27th March)

Celebrating 50 years since Casterton High School took occupancy of the present site at 27 Mt.Gambier Road, Casterton.
The organising committee has decided on activities for both the Saturday and Sunday, allowing Good Friday and Easter Monday for travel and family commitments.
Re-enactment of the "move" from the State School to current site; formal speeches etc; fair like activities; a Ball and lots of other activities have already been organised.
An information pack is being prepared for distribution to interested parties in the near future.

Saturday, 26th. March, 2005

9.50am Re-enactment of Procession:

  • Students from 1955 to assemble at Casterton Primary School (McPherson Street) for re-enactment of procession to “new” High School (under Police escort commencing at 10am).
  • Participants encouraged to wear school uniform and ride decorated bicycles if possible.
  • [Note: Primary School will be open between 9.00am and 10.00am for a nostalgic visit by ex-students of Higher Elementary and early High School]

10.00am Procession Starts

  • Leaves Primary school under Police escort and will proceed via stock bridge to Highway, crosses bridge and proceeds up Henty Street to Casterton Secondary College.
  • Buses available for those who cannot walk/ride the whole way.

11.00am Procession arrives at 27 Mt.Gambier Road school site.

  • All other reunion visitors to be assembled on lawns at current site to welcome procession.
  • Official proceedings – including unveiling of commemorative plaque, individually marked pavers and launch of 50 years history booklet.

12.00noon onwards Lunch available.

  • School “open” & Memorabilia Displays. Names of all who have a student or staff record at the school will be listed for viewing (including Higher Elementary school students).
  • Fair activities, including helicopter rides, wine tasting, displays, stalls, etc.
  • Afternoon tea available.
  • Orders taken by Footplate Video for copies of Jubilee production.
  • Commemorative items as ordered to be collected plus sales of any excess stocks.

4.00pm Fair activities finish.

9.00pm Jubilee Ball

  • BYO drinks, supper provided. Tickets $25 (pre-booking advised due to venue constraints; see enclosed order form)
  • Concludes at 1.00am.
  • Shuttle Bus available $5 (Subject to demand – book during Saturday afternoon celebrations).

Sunday, 27th. March, 2005

9.00am Breakfast available

  • (particularly for those who have utilised camp facilities at school, but all are welcome!)

11.00am School “open”

  • Memorabilia Displays continued.
  • Make sure you’ve ordered your video!

12.00noon onwards Lunch

  • BBQ Lunch available.
  • Continuation of reunion.
  • Sub-reunions of specific years at various sites around school. Individual organisers will have contacted ex-students, or advertising will take place during the earlier Jubilee celebrations.
1.30pm Town Tour $8
  • A chance to see the changes around Casterton with commentary prepared from local knowledge. (Subject to demand – book during Saturday afternoon celebrations).
