The First WW2 Enlistments in Casterton
Recruiting Day 16th Nov. 1939


The below men left Casterton at 6.30 am on the 23rd Nov. 1939. The members of the 2nd 6th Battalion left for the Middle East aboard HMT ‘NEURALIA’ on the 14th April 1940.

They arrived in Colombo on the 3rd of May and left on the 4th of May for Palestine, arriving at Aden on the 12th May and entered the Suez Canal on the 17th May and berthed at El Kantara in the early hours of the morning of the 18th May and were transferred to Beit Jirta.
