William ROGERS abt 1780-? & Sarah CRAIG 1781-1871
Tasmania, "Muntham" Station & Sandford, Victoria, Australia William ROGERS was probably born about 1780 ___, son of ___ ROGERS and ___ and was married to Sarah CRAIG, born ca 1781, ___, Scotland, daughter of ___ CRAIG and ___. Sarah CRAIG appears to have been the widow of Henry BARR of the 40th Regiment, British Army. Henry and Sarah BARR had a son Henry BARR, b. ca 1822, Athlone. William ROGERS had been a bootmaker in the British Army and was recorded as a shoemaker of "Muntham" Station in south-west Victoria in 1845 by James MALLETT. He was also recorded as being a shoemaker living at the same location, a river bend south of Sandford with Dr BYASS before 1850. William & Sarah ROGERS were witnesses to the 1848 wedding of her son Henry BARR (and Ann BELL) from her first marriage to Henry BARR. Marriage certificate - No. 54 Sarah ROGERS died at "Greenwald Station" owned by her son-in-law, Francis EGAN in 1871 and was buried in the Digby Cemetery.
