John Gibson PROUDFOOT, b. 1834, Sct, son of James PROUDFOOT and Janet GIBSON married Harriett MILBOURNE, b. 1842, dau of Henry MILBOURNE and Mary Ann BEST at Penshurst, Victoria in 1867.

John Proudfoot, Storekeeper of Carapook, 3 school-aged children, living 1/2 mile W of Carapook was one of the signatures to the 1875 petition aimed at establishing a new school at Carapook.

John's first wife, Harriett died in 1871 at Carapook and was buried at Branxholme.

John PROUDFOOT married Mary Anna PENROSE in 1872 and continued to live at Carapook until the early 1880s.

John and family moved to Murwillumbah NSW, where John ran the general store for many years where he died in 1923.
