James HART, b. ca 1844, Ayrshire, Scotland, son of John HART and Isabella CAMPBELL was married in 1866 at Coleraine, Vic to Mary EGAN, b. c1840 Dublin, Ireland, daughter of Henry EGAN and Ann BYRNES? Mary MILLER (nee EGAN) was a widow (possibly of Louis MILLER), with a daughter Mary MILLER, b. 1863, Hamilton, Vic when she married James HART in 1866.

James HART with 5 school-aged children, living ½ mile E of Carapook was one of the signatures to the 1875 petition aimed at establishing a new school at Carapook.
