This is probably the DOYLE family shown on the Carapook School map of 1875 as having 8 school age children and living due south of Carapook on the Wannon River. A note on the map says that "have never attended - they keep a governess".

James DOYLE (22y), Alice DOYLE (19y) and James DOYLE (2y) arrived in Victoria on the "Dominion" in 1852. The next child Catherine's birth was registered in Portland in 1852.

In 1875 James DOYLE paid £176 in rates on property at Carapook.

James DOYLE owned the "Bridge Inn" at Casterton in the 1880s.
