PARRY, C 160 Sturt Street, Ballarat Charlotte PARRY (nee WAIN), born 7 Mar. 1842, Sydney, NSW, daughter of William Henry WAIN and Kate (GRIFFITHS). Charlotte married Francis Claude PARRY, 18 Oct. 1862 in Ballarat, Vic. Charlotte died in Coburg, Melbourne, on 06 09.1924 and was buried with Francis in Ballarat New Cemetery on 8.09.1924. Her sister Kate Emma WILLIAMSON also signed the 1891 petition.
Obituary - "Mrs Charlotte PARRY, a pioneer resident of Ballarat died on Saturday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Walter MARSH, Melbourne. The deceased who was in her 83rd year, carried on business in Sturt Street for some years. She leaves a grown family to mourne their loss, viz. Mr F C PARRY and Mrs W MARSH (Melbourne); Ernest Charles, William & Mrs W A MILTON (Transvaal, South Africa); Mr George A PARRY, (Gorowangerup, WA); and Mr Bert PARRY of Doveton Street, Soldiers' Hill. Mrs PARRY was the only sister of Mrs Foster WILLIAMSON, Wendouree Parade. The remains were interred with those of her husband, who predecesed her 18 years ago, in the Ballarat New Cemetery. The Rev B H DEWHURST officiated. Numerous floral tributes were received, including a wreath from the employees of Messrs. Ronaldson Bros. & Tippett. The following gentlemen acted as pall bearers - Messrs. W TAYLOR, W DAVEY, A TAYLOR, T SHILLINGTON, A BLINKHORN, C G PHILIP (representing Beith, Shiers & Co.), Frank HOWIE and Glen WILLIAMS. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr H LAUGHLIN".

PATERSON, I R Ballarat Isabella PATERSON was born abt. 1835, Ayr Scotland to John PATERSON and Janet (TOMLINSON). She married Andrew PATERSON born Kilmarnock in 1868. They had three children – Margaret (AIKENS) 1869-1917, James 1871-1940 and Jean Parker (MILLER) 1876-1966. Isabella died 1919 aged 84 years at 221 Burke Street, Balwyn. Andrew died Sturt Street Ballarat 22 Feb 1893 aged 62 years. They are buried Ballarat New cemetery. Location: Private D 11 6. Headstone: Paterson Janet/wife of the late John Paterson/of Kilmarnock, Scotland, d 24 Mar 1877/aged 70 yrs/their son-in-law/Andrew Paterson/d 19 Feb 1893, aged 62 yrs/and his wife/Isabella/d 22 Nov 1919, aged 84 yrs/also/James/son of Andrew and Isabella/d 2 May 1940, aged 68 yrs. PATTERSON, Mrs 11 Surrey Street, Ballarat Isabella Muirhead PATTERSON (nee ROGER, ROGERS, RODGER) was born abt. 1843. Her parent’s names are unknown. She married John PATTERSON. Their children – John Mcgarvie 1867-191, Elizabeth 1869-1869, James William 1871, Isabella Muirhead 1873, Elizabeth Muirhead (WORLADGE)1875-1929, George Robert 1877, David 1879-1934, Robert 1882 and Jessie Craig (DELALAND) 1886-1969. Isabella died aged 93 years and was buried 08.01.1935 in Ballarat New Cemetery. (updated July 2009)

PEACOCK, Mrs 39 Humffray Street, Ballarat Emma PEACOCK was born abt. 1855 to George OLDFIELD and Fanny UK. She married William PEACOCK. Emma died aged 76 years and was buried with William on 14 September 1932. Headstone – Peacock husband, father William 21.5.1927 72 years wife Emma 13.9.1932 77 years. Her residence was 114 Humffray Street, Ballarat.

PEARCE, Mrs Barkly Street, Ballarat Anna Maria PEARCE (nee CARAH) was born in Adelaide, South Australia to John CARAH and Grace (BARTLE) on 16.08.1852. She married Isaiah PEARCE at Castlemaine 1877 and lived at 99 Barkly Street, Ballarat. Isaiah arrived in Australia 1861 from Cowan, Cornwall, and became involved in the Mining Industry. He was a Councillor for many years. In August 1892 he was Mayor of Ballarat East and in the same year he was made a Justice of the Peace. Their children – Ida (Gribble) 1878-1955, John 1879-1880, John 1880-1882, Eleanor (Jones) 1882-1955, Essie Grace (Walker) 1884-1962, Joseph William 1886-1917, Stella (Mockridge) 1887-1974 and John 1889-1947. Anna fell ill with severe influenza and did not fully recover and died at ¼ to 10pm on Saturday 11th May 1895 at her residence "Clowance" Barkly Street Ballarat East. Anna was buried 13.05.1895 with Isaiah and two baby sons in the Ballarat Old Cemetery. Headstone – PEARCE/Anna, wife of Isaiah 11.5.1895 43 years/Isaiah, husband, father, native of Cowan, Cornwall 7.7.1919 75 years/A man greatly loved peace be unto thee/ their children/John 7.1.1879 10 mths/John 9.4.1882 1 yr 9 mths/son Capt J W Pearce M.C. B. Co., 21st Batt., 6th Brigade A.I.F. who served in Gallipoli and France and fell at Broodseinde Ridge Flanders 4.10.1917 buried on the Broodseinde Ridge 31 yrs 6 mths. PEARCE, Mrs. J. Raglan Street & Eyre Street, Ballarat Mrs Jane PEARCE (nee BASTIAN) born Gwinear, Cornwall, 1828, to Richard and Jane BASTIAN. She married James PEARCE of Crowan, Cornwall in 1850 and travelled to Australia in 1851. James established PEARCE's Public Battery in Ballarat in 1854, and with the arrival of his brother, Isaiah PEARCE, and brother in law William THOMAS, in 1861, James changed the name to Canadian Crushing Company and gave both men a 1/3 interest in the company. James also co-owned several mining companies with his brother and brother-in-law. These included North Noaw Hawp and New Normanby. Upon her husband's death in 1889, Jane assumed control of James' interests including his mining, property and banking interests. Jane remained as an active in the management of these interests until her death at her home 'Cranbourne' in 1902. Jane is buried with her husband at the Ballarat Old Cemetery.
Jane's home 'Cranbourne' on the corner of Raglan and Eyre streets was built several years before her brother-in-law Isaiah PEARCE's home 'Clowance'. Clowance was modelled on 'Cranbourne'. Cranbourne still stands today.
Jane and James PEARCE had 6 children; James 1862- , John 1861-, Elizabeth, Mary Hannah (WHITE) 1859-1885, Phillipa (MORRISON) 1852- and Ellen (DAVIS) 1850- .

PENDER, Frances Johnson Street, Ballarat Frances Annie PENDER the third child of David PENDER and Elizabeth CROSBIEI was born in 1869 at Scarsdale. In 1905 she married Henry BLYTH. They had two sons John Stuart in 1906 and David Fleming in 1908. Francis Annie died at Elsternwick in 1960 aged 90 years.

Their children - Ellen Margaret 1874-1898, Mary Ann Drew 1875, Isabella Ritchie 1877-1901, Ethel Emma Jane 1879, William John 1882 and Edgar Alexander 1885-1946. Margaret died aged 75 at Beaconsfield Pde. St. Kilda and was buried in Ballarat New Cemetery on 09.12.1927. Headstone – Peters/William Thomas/and Margaret Peters/also daughters/Ellen and Isabella.

She married John Joseph PYKE in 1888 and had a daughter Lillian May at Ballarat in 1892. John PYKE’s occupation was that of carpenter. He is listed in the 1890-91 directory at 98 Creswick Road, in the 1894 directory at 98 ½ Creswick Road (east side), and in the 1896-97 directory at 100 Creswick Road, Ballarat. Mary Ann PYKE died 28.8.1929 at 408 Creswick Road Ballarat, aged 62 years and was buried 30.08.1929; John Joseph PYKE died 1949 aged 80 years and was buried 18.03.1949. They are in Ballarat Old Cemetery. Their headstone reads: PYKE: Mary Ann wife of John mother of Lillian 28.08.1929 62 years husband John Joseph 17.03.1949 80 yrs Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.
