Sarah Elizabeth McNAMARA (nee SIMCOCKS) was born to George SIMCOCKS and Hannah (nee McSWEENEY) on 20 June 1843 in Killarney, County Kerry. On 4 January 1874 she married Michael McNAMARA at St Alipius Church Ballarat. Their children – Margaret Hannah 1874-1958, Annie Elizabeth 1876-1914, Patrick Joseph 1878-1973, Sarah Maria (SCULLIN) 1880-1962, Wilhelmina Ellen 1882-1915, Dennis 1887-1887 and Thomas Frederick 1889-1970. Their daughter Sarah Maria married James SCULLIN who later became Prime Minister of Australia. Sarah died aged 77 years was buried Ballarat 04.11.1924. Michael aged 65 was buried 30.11.1909. Their headstone – McNamara / Michael McNamara / d 26 Nov. 1909 / Sarah Elizabeth McNamara/d 2 Nov. 1924/Requiescat in pace. [update from C. Mitchell]
